Virtual Communities

Virtual Communities

A great example of these communities is the Melton Vale VLE which is a big community where people can access work from others and they complete sheets that need completing, these are important because it allows a group of people to access information, also forums can be like this where people have a question and someone with the knowledge can answer it. One of the downsides to this is that you cannot rely on the information you are given, and you don't know who you are dealing with.

  1. I agree with what you have said here and I agree that the VLE is a good example, another example could be Facebook where everyone is linked together as friends ect; which forms a virtual community.

  2. I think another good use for this would be groups of famous people/idol could create a forum together, they could share updates and information about themselves and we could see more about how they interact with each other.

  3. Virtual communities such as social networking sites allow people to stay in touch and to share things with friends and family, and occasionally work colleagues, and the best part of it, is that its free! However, sometimes you may not be talking to the person you think you're talking to, due to it being through a screen and not face to face.

  4. to sum up all of these comments i would agree with all of what you have said, Facebook is a brilliant example of the world biggest virtual community, and how people can connect and now access other peoples lives, whilst still living theirs. This can all be done via the means of the internet, and best of all, it is almost all free! m sure many other websites will shortly become as famous as facebook and twitter, its all about delivering what communities want and creating it.
